…endlich weiß ich was ich will….Carina und ihr Schmucklabel….. CAÏCU
…finally I found my way…Carina and her jewelry label CAÏCU

More and more people are facing struggles with their daily jobs. From the get go they are having problems choosing a career as they don’t really know what they want in live. They are under pressure as they need to earn good money to have a good life but on the other side sitting the whole day in an office can´t be the solution. It´s all about realizing yourself…but with what?

It took me years and I never wanted to listen to my friends who told me already from I was 19…long long time ago..: Katja, make something out of your passion and your skills…cooking, creating, experimenting, interior design, photography…For me, all this wasn’t special enough to make something out of it and I never thought about the fact that also by doing things you can learn and progress…and now I have my own blog.

Today I´m excited to welcome my dear friend Carina from Munich. Carina and I know each other already for many years now and I was very surprised when she told me about 2 weeks ago that she is founding her own jewelry label.

Get inspired and maybe it also opens up new paths for YOU and ideas take shape of what YOU still want to do or create in YOUR life.

Katja: Hello Carina, it´s so nice to see you and thank you for taking time to visit me. I´m so excited to hear from you what led you to the decision to found your own jewelry label??

Carina: You´ve known me now for quite a while and I´ve always had a lot of passions, ideas and interests…but I´ve never stuck to something for longer and in an more sustainable way. Then I turned 30 and told myself: Carina you can´t continue like that…something has and must change.

Katja: Smile…Yeah this story sounds familiar to me. You´ve been making jewelry already for longer, haven´t you? Actually, how did you come to the idea to make jewelry for yourself?

Carina: I´ve been making jewelry for myself now for about 5 years. Everything started with a ring I bought on a street in the Caribbean from an american girl. The ring was made out of beautiful japanese glas beads called “Myiuki”. Since then, this ring always reminded me of the beautiful time I had in the Caribbean and I was so sad when it broke. Hereupon I started to investigate and tried to find out everything about the technique this ring was made with, about its name and how I can get the beads.

Katja: Okay…and right after that you had the idea to sell your jewelry?

Carina: Not at all actually. Initially it was just supposed to be for me. But always when I was wearing my pieces people asked me about it and I got a lot of positive feedback.

Also an der Wertigkeit dessen was Du machst?

Katja: Did something change for you through getting all this positive feedback? I mean, did you start to think different about the value of what you were doing?

Carina: Noooo, I still thought about it the same way. Actually it was more my boyfriend who opened my eyes. My boyfriend is from Jamaica and there you are constantly forced to reinvent yourself in order to survive. There you have to create something for yourself in order to have a good and secured life. Self-doubts can mean existential fear or even hunger… My self-doubts are actually a luxury problem what we have here in Germany. My self-confidence was a bucket full of negative thoughts which killed every spark or idea I had. I was feeling dispirited and uncreative.

Wowwwww…. Plötzlich stehst Du zu Deinen Fähigkeiten und packst was an…

Katja: Sometimes you told me about it…therefore I´m even more impressed that you are now founding your own label…Wowwwww… Finally you stand behind your skills and you start creating something for yourself.

Carina: I definitely owe this my boyfriend and my good friends. At the moment I´m waiting for my logo to be finished by a graphic designer. I´m excited and I can´t wait. In my free time I´m constantly working on new designs and new pieces of jewelry and on my first collection called: Papaya Poppin

… was bedeutet das genau?

Katja: Your label has such a beautiful name
CAÏCU
…what does it mean exactly?

Carina: In the language of the natives of the Caribbean „CAÏCU” means reef or what I find even more beautiful and meaningful is: little island land bridge. For me it symbolizes the colors of the Caribbean… a perfect day in nature, good vibes and the beauty of its people.

Katja: That sounds beautiful… where can people find and purchase your jewelry?

Carina:Zur Zeit geht es über Instagram
Carina: At the moment on Instagram.

But my next goal is to open an online shop.

Katja: Your jewelry is in fact gorgeous and I wish you all the best and I hope, that your lable will grow quickly…I´m glad you are here and that you shared with us a little piece of your path.

With a picture of those beautiful and unique pieces I want to say goodbye.
